Here to Stay is a Harrigan family novel which means it is in a series {and a wonderful one at that} but it works as a stand alone novel as well. Here to Stay is the story of Zach Harrigan and Mandy Pajeck. Mandy has a younger brother who is blind as a result of an accident and she takes care of him. When she hears about guide animals she's intrigued and thinks this could be the solution to their problems. Zach has decided it's time to stop all the partying he does and do something with his life so he gets a miniature horse to train as a guide animal. Zach and Mandy are brought together by this miniature horse and they feel a connection between them. As usual, there is alot of drama and intrigue before things settle down and the two can begin a life together. As she always does, Catherine gets the emotions down pat. You'll cry, smile, laugh, and cheer for Zach and Mandy all throughout this book. Pick it up and read it as it is well worth it.

Very tedious reading...slow moving.
it was OK, slow, not too enjoyable
Anderson is a favorite
A very good book! I love Cathrine Anderson's style of writing. Honestly, I liked the other Harrigan books better. I liked Parker, then Quincey, then Samantha and then Clint in that order. You can't go wrong with a Catherine Anderson book though.
These paperback books are a gift for my sister who hates ebooks, she just found Catherine Anderson and wanted more.
Catherine Anderson is one of my favorite authors. Her books are funny, suspenseful, and keeps your attention to the end.
Catherine Anderson is one of my favorite contemporary authors. She is one of the few authors whose books I buy as soon as they are published - all of them. Some are better than others, though, and "Here to Stay", while being very good, wasn't at the top of my list of favorites. Don't get me wrong - it was certainly well worth reading but I found myself comparing it to some of her earlier works that really knocked my socks off, such as My Sunshine,Blue Skies, or Phantom Waltz. Anderson incorporates characters with physical disabilities into a lot of her books and does it well, allowing them full, healthy lives DESPITE any handicaps they might have.

Luke in "Here to Stay" was blinded in an accident when very young and is not a very sympathetic character for a good portion of the book. His sister, Mandy, who is his caretaker is also a huge enabler. So there are parts of the book where I just wanted to slap one or the other of them.

I enjoyed the character of Zach, the rancher who is now raising mini guide horses and especially fell in love with Rosebud, the little horse-in-training. There were some scenes that stretched my sense of belief (I am not sure how credible it actually would be to have these mini horses doing guide work, especially in an urban setting; or the scenes with the "killer" stallion turned into a teddybear - maybe I just don't know enough to be well informed) but this is fiction and I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to romance readers or those who love animals.
